Changing a burnt bulb in your 2003 Honda Civic does not require specialized tools or knowledge. Refer to the owner’s manual for the specific replacement bulbs your vehicle requires.
Follow My Steps
Remove the power steering fluid reservoir by pulling up on the bracket. Set the tank on a stable surface to prevent the fluid from spilling. This step is only necessary for the driver’s side headlamp.
Locate the bulb, and the plug plugged into the back. Remove the electrical plug by pressing on the sides of the plug and pulling back.
Remove the headlight time stamp by pulling on the tab located on the top of the headlight housing.
Release the retaining bulb cable by locating the clamp and pulling it down and away from the bulb. Remove the bulb from the headlight assembly.
Insert the new bulb into the headlight assembly. Make sure the 9007 light bulb well aligned with the headlight slots. Rotate the retaining clip up over the bulb, keeping it in place.
Replace the rubber cover by inserting it into the socket with the word “Top” facing up. Make sure the gasket properly adjusted by the operation of your hand around the edge of the rubber cover. If the seal is not fully seated, it will allow water in the enclosure, causing damage.
Connect the electrical plug to the new bulb by pushing it straight. This step is to verify the correct installation of the electrical connector, the headlights come on and observe that both led bulbs work.
Reinstall the power steering tank on the driver’s side and close the hood.
Tips and warnings
- Avoid touching the new led car light bulb with your skin. Hand oils can cause the focus to fail when heated. Clean any contamination in the bulb using denatured alcohol and a soft, lint-free cloth.
